Campbell Design & Engineering have recently collaborated on a number of open space projects within Castleford's highly publicised regeneration programme under 'The Castleford Project' banner. Being filmed for Channel 4, the documentary intimately follows the regeneration process and how it involves and impacts upon the participating local communities.
In Partnership with Groundwork Wakefield, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, Cutsyke Community Group, Parklife and Airedale College, CDE Ltd have contributed a range of environmental improvements to the Waterfront, Cutsyke Community Garden and the Castleford Green play space.
Much of the regeneration emphasis has been to involve young people in the consultation process. In response to this philosophy, CDE Ltd organised a series of design development workshops, in which both GCSE students and community youth group members produced all the decorative imagery for their respective community project sites. The culmination of this initiative, resulted in a couple of practical fabrication workshop events for the young people to help them understand and experience the production process.
